Burning Bright-photo blog

One night, as I was about to go to sleep, I noticed a candle beside my bed. I couldn't fall asleep so I lit the candle. My room was dark and gloomy; the candle lit the room, and as shadows emerged on the walls my phone went off. growing tired, I placed my phone beside my bed. getting ready to blow out the candle, I decided to pick my phone back up; half asleep I took the picture and returned my phone, and went to sleep.

Blog it Assignment- Ken Robinson

Oh my gosh! Can I just say how much I liked Ken Robinson's accent. I loved his whole presentation; the thing I liked most about it was that he is funny. His presentation was about how schools need to incorporate creativity in our education. Creativity is important because some people NEED it; Like how he shared about the woman who in school could not sit still but if there was music she would gravitate towards the music. I compleatly agree with him; personally I like to have creativity in my daily life style.

Photo Blog! Here Kitty, Kitty!

These are picture of my three cats, Ginger, Squirt, and Bailey (in order of pictures). I had just gotten my new  Cannon camera when I took these pictures. Christmas day I opened the box already knowing what was inside. As soon as I got it out of the box and in my hot little hands I was busy taking pictures. The camera came with a bag and a longer lens. My mom had taken each part and hid them around the house; I had no clue I was getting a camera, but the trick was I had to find it.To this day I absolutely love my camera.

Blog It Assignments-Do Not Eat The Marshmallow

What! Are you telling me not to eat this marshmallow for 15 minutes? Are you crazy?! Joachim de Posada explained how 4-5 year old kids were placed in a room with a marshmallow, and they were told not to eat it for 15 minutes; they explained to the kids that if they didn't eat the marshmallow they would get two marshmallows. Of course two out of three kids ate the marshmallow. Most of the kids picked it up, felt it, smelt it, and set it back down until they couldn't take it anymore. Later they came back to the kids at the ages of 15 or 16. They saw how they were doing in school; the kids who had not eaten the marshmallow were successful  in school, where the kids who did weren't doing as well. I didn't know that eating a marshmallow would make a person end up working in McDonald's

Blog It Assignment- Adora Svitak

Adora Svitak, a striving young lady, proving that children are not always the childish ones. She is 12 and already has books published—she is speaking in large groups of people who come to watch her speak. If you can’t tell already, is not childish. I’m sure most people would agree to say that Adora is right. I know that I get agitated when someone tells me I’m being childish. The way Svitak spoke drew me in; I wanted to listen to her, and I wanted to pay attention to her words. You can tell Adora is an intelligent girl.

Blog It Assignment- Steve Jobs

I don’t know very much about Steve Jobs except the fact that he was co-founder, chairman, and chief executive officer of Apple Inc. The impact he made on the would might not seem big but in reality It sort of was. I mean yeah he’s not like Elvis Presley where everybody knows him , but he did affect  the way we live our lives today. Just think back in the 1990’s how cell phones were giant bricks; now not only are they travel size they also do oh so much more. In his graduation speech he gave,he really made me think about my life and how I should live my life. In his graduation speech he said  he had dropped out of college, and it was the best decitions he had ever made. Now look at what he has done... I mean that pretty huge.

JOY OF THE DAY HURRAY!

When I rose from my warm bed this morning, I felt the cool crisp morning air on my toasty warm body; I was overjoyed to see the sparkling white snow outside my window. After school in the freezing cold, I had the pleasure of going trick-or-canning with my small group. We dressed up in costume, and we went door to door asking for cans for a food drive. Even though my toes felt like they were going to fall off I had fun; that’s all that matted at the time.

Blog It Assignment- An Unlikley Friendship

Tarra & Bella are an odd couple.
Terra , the very big elephant, met Bella, a very small stray dog,and they became inseprable friends. They did everything together untill Bella had surgery. She had to stay at the sanctuary building untill she could walk again. Terra ,bing great frinds with Bella, stayed right outside the building where Bella was. Everyday the people would carry Bella out to see Terra untill she could walk again. This story remided me of Owen and Mzee, the turtle and the hippo who became best buds. I think friendship is an important part of my life. I think if I didn’t have people I could talk to and be with I would be sour and depressed. Its always nice to have someone you can lean on who has your back.

Oh My Lovley Little Daisy.

I have mentioned my lovely waterfall hike once before, and much like my other picture, the bee on the flower, this too was taken on that hike. Most flowers are pleasing to the eye but that’s not why I took this picture. We were on top of the waterfall on a trail. The Trail was extremely gorgeous! I was starting to get cloudy and looked like it was going to start raining. Ari turned to me and asked, “Do you think we should start making our way down the waterfall?”
“Yeah,” I started to say, “that’s probably a good idea.” As we started to walk back I almost tripped on a root going down a little hill. Ari caught me and I spotted this daisy. I had passed a bunch of daisies as we were going up, but this on popped out at me.

Photo time!

The first time I saw this bee I almost stepped on it. To tell you about the time I took this picture, I have to tell you how I even got to have the chance to take it. It all begins with my Wilderness trip; I had my wilderness trip in a little part of the Rocky Mountain National Park. The waterfall we got to see was so pretty that my adviser, nature loving Victoria, a fellow advise, indecisive Bailey, and myself all had to go back with our "good" cameras. We got a whole group together and went back up there one Wednesday. After a lovely day of hiking and taking pictures we were all heading back to the car; Ari and I were hiking back to the car when I almost stepped on the yellow flower. I took a second look and there was a bee as perfect as could be. Right then and there I took out my camera and took a picture.

Joy of the Day! 10/21/2011

When I sit at home all day, bored out of my mind, the only thing that can really make my day special is getting out of the house. Today I got to drive, and not only did I get to drive I had a good experience driving today. On top of that I got to hang out with people I enjoy being around. So today my joy was more noticeable then most days; it always is a good feeling to have a good day.

Joy of the day! 10/19/2011

It's always a good feeling to know somebody cares about you, to know your wanted by someone. Even though we all know we are loved by so many people it still feels good to be reminded every once and a while.

Joy of the day. 10/17/11

Everyday other day I plan to write my joy of the day. Somebody had said that everyday they find the joy in their day, it ended up making them happier so I figured I would give it a try. I looked back at today and at first It seemed like it was sucky, then I remembered that simple hug and "fist bump" from my uncle and my grandpa. It didn't seem like much at the time, now realize it started my day off to a good start.

Public Speaking

Every time I have to speak in front of a large group of people I get extreamly nervous. My voice shakes, my hands shake, my throat gets extreramly dry and I blank on what I am supose to say. All I can say is public speaking and I are not friends.

Blog It assignments- Rediscover the Joy of Learning.

Rediscover the Joy of learning to me has always just been Discover the Joy of Learning. Being at the Open School has giving me freedom to learn what I want to learn, therefore "rediscover" has been irrelevant. For me this goal means to find a way to make learning fun for yourself.  I feel like newer kids at our school use this goal more then I do. The link takes you to the Open School Philosophy to learn more about the pen school goals.

Blog It Writing Assignment -

Dear Blog it,
You have helped me understand the ways of blogging, before I was afraid to try it out. During the summer I wanted to create a blog but I put it off. I’m glad that I decided to take you as one of my classes. I think I am ready to take blogging into my own hands and be self-directed with it.  I did get bored with the writing assignments, but I guess it was just because it was class work, I mean who really likes class work?

Blog it assignments- Neil Pasricha 3 A's of Awesome.

Neil seems like a very fine fellow. During his speech he mentioned the three A’s: Attitude, Awareness, and Authenticity. I liked the idea of the three A’s but I don’t think I will remember to use them daily.   The discussions, although useful are not always successful. I enjoy having the discussions I just wish I had enough courage to talk during them. I’m sure they will improve and hopefully I will challenge myself to talk more during the discussions. Does my blog have a theme? Right now I’m not so sure it does but I’m hoping to focus on photo blogging.

Blog It Assignments- nouns.

Nouns, oh sweet nouns. The quiz we took in Blog It today was alright; I liked how there was only 10 questions in the one I took, however I got two questions wrong. I kept forgetting to add my "s" after my apostrophe. I think writers need to remember to use apostrophes the right way. I'm pretty sure that once people know how to use them it's quite simple. I use plural and possessive nouns sometimes in my blogosphere. I don't think I use them all the time but I do use them when I need to. I feel pretty confident that I know how to use them well.

My First Photo Blog!

The history of this picture is quite simple. It all started when one of my favorite people ever (Mary) asked my mom and myself if we wanted to go with her to the Butterfly Pavilion. Of course we agreed to go and we all thought this would be a great opportunity to take pictures with my fancy new camera. So after a whole car ride of amazing loud music and a road down memory lane we got to the Butterfly Pavilion. The fist stop we made was at the Crawl-A-see-um but Mary and I stayed far away from the spiders and only looked at the freaky bugs that could give me nightmares. We went through everything even the little kid play place. Then finally we made it to the butterfly room. Mary and I went crazy taking pictures of every cool butterfly we could find, it was like being a little kid again. The butterfly in this picture was Mary's butterfly. I remember her trying to take a picture of this butterfly who would not stay still. She finally gave me a disappointing look and said Kaylee I can't take a picture of this damn butterfly, will you try to get a good one. Of course I got one and I will never forget how happy she was that there was a decent picture of her butterfly.

Blog it assignments- Mena Trott

In class today we got to watch a video about Mena Trott speaking about blogs. I really liked how we discussed everything in class, even though no one talked much opportunity was nice to have. When we watched Mena's speech she had mentioned a guy who could make money and support his family because of his blog. It made me wonder how many people use their blogs for something other than what I and most others use it for. I really liked how she used media in her speech; It made it more compelling for me. she discussed how she blogged about how her husband wouldn't let her buy a banjo, then a lot of people emailed her how he was such a jerk and she should leave him. I was thinking jeeze people take things so seriously and how things can sometimes be misunderstood in writing. I want to really try hard to  get my point across without being misunderstood.

Blog it assignments- Run on sentences and fragments.

In Blog it we had to take a quiz about run on sentences and fragments. We had the choice between two quizzes, I decided to do the second quiz. I liked the quiz just because it made me feel so smart. I got every question right! The quiz I took gave you silly prizes--not real prizes you can have but you can enjoy them on the screen. The quiz was only about fragments, but I'm pretty sure I know what a run on sentence is. Writes need to remember to use punctuation even thought they are writing fast to get everything out. In my blogosphere I don't really notice if I have run on  sentences or fragments.  If I do I would really like to know so that I can make an effort to become a better writer. My example of a run on sentence: Today I was hiking up a very large mountain and I saw a bunch of wild turkeys they looked at me and squawked then hurried off as I kept walking I ran into a big giant bear luckily I had a companion with me so as we ran from the bear I tripped my companion and I got away from the bear unfortunately my companion did not. My example of a fragment: Hiking up the mountain. If you ever need help with run on sentences or fragments I suggest you watch This video.

It's Cray What Photoshop Can Do.

Now a days most teens and even adults are always comparing and judging themselves and others. To top it off we have beauty magazines, TV shows, ect. with the perception of the perfect dream girl. The video I posted to this post is to show how different the girls we see are from the real thing.

Blog It Writing Assignment.

To be Self-Directed it helps to be independent. Although to be Self-Directed is not the same as Being independent. To be Self-Directed is to go out of your way to direct yourself to do things you are suppose to do. Where independent is to be alone away from others. My examples of be being Self-Directed is when I Worked on all my homework and my passage proposals at my church and at home during my free time. I think that blogging can be connected to Self-Direction when you blog about being Self-Directed. I'm not exactly sure how blogging can be connected to Self-Direction  other than that.

Blog It Writing Assignment - response for article.

The article had a lot of good examples on why students should blog. I agree, students should blog. I think that because its fun they will have more interest in doing it. It said in the article that most students will try and make their blog look good, not only in presentation but in content as well. From experience I know that I try and make my blog look the best it can. Students who blog can also put picture and videos in their blog; parents and grandparents can look at what the student has been doing, especially if they are family who live far away. As it has in the article there are many reasons why students should blog.

What Shipping Does to Me

I had ordered somethings online and I was waiting for it to be delivered. I was checking the online tracker to tell me where it was in the process. It said that it was suppose to be delivered that day. I was waiting for it all day then all of a sudden I herd what sounded like a FedEx truck coming down the street. I got up and looked out of my bedroom window (from my window you can see the whole street) I saw the FedEx truck going down the culdesac right across the street. I sat there and Watched the FedEx man get out of the truck and place a package on someones door step. I watched as the FedEx man got back into the truck and drive out of the culdesac. I was so excited because I thought for sure he was going to come down my culdesac next. Then my heart broke because he made a turn and left our street. I finally realized that they had put my package in the mail box instead of delivering it to my doorstep

The School That Changes Lives.

I have been going to the same school since preschool. It's not like other school where you get grades and have to sit in desks. Instead of a school its a home. Instead of class mates and teachers we are a community. We are not told what to do we are asked what we would like to do. I guess you can say we are a hippy school but I like to think of it as a chance to make a change not only in your life but in others. We don't have sports but my oh my  the trips we take ... there are no words to explain them. A few places we have been to are Africa, Ireland, Japan Hawaii and  so much more that we have a map with pins marking everywhere we have gone. There are not very many chances where you get the opportunity to be involved in something so huge but luckily I do get that opportunity.
